Wamarra acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands upon which we work, live and socialise. We pay our respect to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who we recognise as Australia’s First Peoples whose cultural practices continue today.
Jamie-Lee McCabe, Rayne Harrison, Reid Crowe, Jason Cooper and Hayden Clark have each taken a step forward in their leadership journey, building new skills, challenging themselves and learning how they can make a positive difference to the people around them.
Named after the Wiradjuri word for “together”, Bulabul reflects the importance of learning and growing alongside others. Now in its third year, the program supports current and emerging Wamarra leaders to build confidence, strengthen their skills and take ownership of their career development.
Across the program, the cohort explored leadership, communication, self-awareness, decision-making and team development through practical workshops, real-world scenarios and reflection. They were encouraged to test their skills, understand their strengths and identify where they could continue to grow.
That willingness to learn and challenge themselves was a highlight for Kellyann Woodley, Organisational Development Manager, Symal.
“This cohort showed a real commitment to their careers and development. They were open to learning, willing to test their skills and showed resilience throughout the program. Their dedication to growing and challenging themselves is a great reflection of the leaders they are becoming.”
With 23 Bulabul graduates now having completed the program over three years, each cohort adds to the leadership capability being built at Wamarra. The skills and confidence developed through Bulabul can be carried into teams, projects and future opportunities, creating an impact that reaches well beyond the program itself.
For Jamie-Lee, Rayne, Reid, Jason and Hayden, completing Bulabul marks an important milestone in their careers. Their next chapter is about putting that learning into practice, continuing to grow and helping create opportunities for those who follow.
