Wamarra acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands upon which we work, live and socialise. We pay our respect to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who we recognise as Australia’s First Peoples whose cultural practices continue today.
As part of the State Government’s Pathway to 144 Mental Health Beds Project, Wamarra was engaged to deliver the landscaping works at Sunshine Hospital in St Albans.
Our scope included a wide range of works across external areas, courtyards, and terraces, such as:
Landscaping, topsoil installation, planting, and irrigation
Hardscape surfaces, paving, kerbs, spoon drains, and concrete footpaths
Timber fencing, bollards, bike racks, and handrail footings
Traffic signage, line marking, and access panels
Demolition and reinstatement works to kerbs, asphalt, and drainage
In addition to landscaping, Wamarra was awarded extra scope, delivering earthworks, service proving, and carpark upgrades. To minimise disruption to hospital staff, patients, and visitors, our team coordinated closely with stakeholders, using Variable Message Signs (VMS) to ensure safe and clear navigation during road resurfacing works.
This large-scale sustainable contract created 6,575 hours of employment for our Aboriginal workforce, reinforcing Wamarra’s purpose of providing meaningful opportunities through construction. We are proud to have delivered this project incident-free, while supporting the delivery of critical mental health infrastructure for the community.
