Wamarra was engaged by the Department of Defence to reconstruct the asphalt testing pad facility at the Land Engineering Agency Proving Ground in Monegeetta. The works involved removing and disposing of the existing asphalt and base material before replacing it with around 3,600m² of new pavement and asphalt.
The team’s scope included the supply and installation of new base layers using 20mm class 2 crushed rock, followed by dense graded asphalt with a multipurpose binder to achieve a seamless finish that matched surrounding levels. While on site, Wamarra also upgraded the nearby drainage network by removing and replacing 50 linear metres of concrete spoon drain and regrading surrounding swale drains to improve long-term performance.
Delivered with minimal challenges, the project benefited from strong relationships with local suppliers to ensure high-quality materials were sourced and delivered on time. The result is a durable, high-performance testing pad that will support Defence’s operations for years to come.
