The Limondale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) will be Australia’s first eight-hour battery, with a planned capacity of more than 50 megawatts and 400 megawatt hours. Located beside the Limondale Solar Farm, the battery will store excess renewable energy and release it back into the grid when needed, supporting power demand and improving grid stability.
Wamarra was engaged by Symal Infrastructure to deliver the fencing works for the project. This included fencing installation, excavation of foundations, bollard installation, and the provision of non-destructive digging. While initially contracted for the fencing package, Wamarra’s civil expertise saw the scope expanded to include NDD works for earthing wires alongside the fencing.
The project also provided a valuable growth opportunity for our team, giving employees exposure to a new scope of work within the renewable energy sector. One of our newest employees was able to build skills and knowledge in this fast-growing industry, highlighting the opportunities projects like Limondale create for people and communities, as well as for Australia’s renewable future.
