Wamarra acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands upon which we work, live and socialise. We pay our respect to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who we recognise as Australia’s First Peoples whose cultural practices continue today.
The accreditation allows us to tender for work involving sensitive government information across Defence, secure data centres and other nationally significant infrastructure.
For Wamarra, the achievement marks the next step in a long-term commitment to building capability within Australia’s Defence and national security sectors.
With a strong track record already building in Defence infrastructure — including a major contract valued at over $40 million as Head Contractor for the expansion of the Myambat Explosive Ordnance Depot in the Hunter Valley — this milestone marks the next step in Wamarra’s Defence journey.
“Securing DISP membership is a huge achievement for Wamarra and something the team has been working towards for a long time,” says Rhys Hannan, Group Defence Manager.
“It demonstrates that we have the systems, governance and capability in place to operate in highly secure environments, which opens the door to a whole new pipeline of Defence and critical infrastructure opportunities.
“We’re incredibly proud to reach this point and excited about the role Wamarra can continue to play in supporting Australia’s Defence capability.”
Since launching six years ago, Wamarra has focused on creating meaningful opportunities within the construction industry for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Since day one, the business has been driven by a clear mission: to create meaningful opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people within the construction industry.
Today, we continue to grow our presence across major infrastructure sectors while staying true to our purpose — building stronger futures, supporting community and creating pathways for Indigenous people to thrive in construction.
The DISP membership represents another important step forward, positioning Wamarra to contribute to some of Australia’s most critical projects while continuing to create lasting impact through our work.
