Wamarra acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands upon which we work, live and socialise. We pay our respect to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who we recognise as Australia’s First Peoples whose cultural practices continue today.
The evening brought together Aboriginal businesses, community leaders and partners from across the state to celebrate the strength, diversity and innovation driving the Indigenous business sector. For Wamarra, the award marks a proud milestone, one that reflects not only business performance but also our purpose in action.
“Being recognised among such strong and inspiring businesses is incredibly humbling,” said Hayden Heta, Managing Director and proud Wiradjuri man.
“This award belongs to our people, our partners and our communities. Everything we build on site and beyond is grounded in opportunity, culture and connection.”
Over the past year, Wamarra has continued to expand its regional footprint, securing its largest project to date as Head Contractor for the expansion of the Myambat Explosive Ordnance Depot in the Hunter Valley. This milestone marks our growing portfolio in the defence sector, as well as the work being done to create opportunities, expand impact and pave the way for more meaningful careers for Aboriginal people.
As a self-performing, Aboriginal-owned contractor, we continue to deliver high-quality infrastructure outcomes that align with long-term social and cultural impact. Through initiatives such as the Bulabul Leadership Program, Yiira Development program and the Ignite Graduate Program, the business is investing in the next generation of Aboriginal leaders. Ongoing community partnerships, such as supporting the 3-Ways Rugby League Club and sponsoring Griffith Survival Day, reflect Wamarra’s deep connection to the regions where our people live and work.
The award reinforces Wamarra’s commitment to delivering high-quality, culturally grounded infrastructure solutions that build lasting value for clients and communities alike and its vision to continue growing across Australia.
Congratulations to all fellow award winners and finalists recognised for their outstanding contributions to Aboriginal business, leadership and community across New South Wales.
