The City of Melbourne has awarded Wamarra and Symal Stage One of The Greenline Project in a joint venture.
The first 500m stage of the project is set to transform the Yarra River, with the whole project connecting Birrarung Marr to the Bolte Bridge.
The upgraded promenade, located on culturally significant Kulin nation lands, will provide an interconnected space for residents, workers, and visitors. It will feature event spaces, public art, and recreational areas, offering a scenic setting for riverside strolls, reflection, and engagement with the river’s ecosystem.
For Wamarra, this partnership embodies a profound commitment to Indigenous engagement and landscape architecture, harmoniously blending the traditional and contemporary.
Hayden Heta, Wamarra’s Managing Director, shared their enthusiasm, saying, “We’re delighted to collaborate with the Greenline project and look forward to seeing the transformation of the Yarra River stretch and celebration of design, art and nature.
We are proud and excited to have been awarded Site One by the City of Melbourne and to work alongside our Symal counterparts. Explore the proposed plans here:
